The Queens, Lytham December 2017

The Queens occupies one of the best spots in Lytham overlooking the green and the Ribble Estuary. It has a very special place in our history with Lytham, as when we were house hunting we stayed at the Queen’s for a couple of nights and enjoyed their lovely rooms and mega breakfasts.

We have eaten there many times since. I have the Queen’s ahead in the pub food stakes in Lytham and I have it as number 1 in terms of the best burger!

This review is from the weekend between Christmas and New Year. A quick lunch visit that I am glad we booked. If you want to eat here – you better book. A couple in front of us upon entering were told there was a 2 hour wait for tables. Thankfully booking is easily done on the Queen’s website

My go to dish is the double cheeseburger to which I add the customary bacon. This is served with the customary helping of fat chips and creamy slaw. I’ve yet to eat a better burger in Lytham, and now the new year diet has started, it may be some time yet! Well cooked beef patties on a light brioche bun with plenty of salad & deep cheese and bacon hits. Perfect.

My wife went for the Coronation Chicken sandwich served with fries. The filling was declared excellent and no fries survived.

The menu is varied at the Queen’s and they run a daily special. Wine is reasonably priced and as with most pubs in Lytham the beer is well kept and there is a decent selection.

If you want “pub grub” from a reliable kitchen, the Queen’s should be on your list. Good luck getting a seat outside in the summer and if you want to eat make sure you book!

Highly recommended
